Ryan & Wetmore was founded in 1988 to service our closely held client base from our offices located in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area. Ryan & Wetmore is a full-service assurance and tax practice, providing a wide array of traditional and non-traditional consulting services that help our clients grow and prosper.

Over three decades later, the mission to provide best in class services has continued. Ryan & Wetmore has grown to employ over 45 people with three offices across the Greater Washington region. Headquartered in Bethesda, Maryland, Ryan & Wetmore is also located in Vienna, Virginia and Frederick, Maryland. We differentiate ourselves from competitors by offering personalized solutions and being a trusted, unbiased business advisor to our clients.

Michael Wetmore co-founded Ryan & Wetmore PC in 1988. Through his leadership and dedication, the firm has grown from a 2 person firm to a 3 office, 45 person firm serving the Mid-Atlantic region. Michael currently works with clients concerning individual, corporate, partnerships and estate tax planning and preparation.

Michael works closely with clients to identify the best strategies for their specific situation. Over the years, he has developed expertise serving the following practice areas:

  • Estates and trusts
  • High net-worth individuals
  • Healthcare organizations
  • Printing and graphic arts industry
  • Not-for-Profit organizations

After several years of service to the Greater Washington Society of Certified Public Accountants on the Board of Governors, Michael is serving as the current President of the Society. He has served industry organizations on both a local and national level. Michael has been a leader on several other not-for-profit accounting boards and budget committees. He is currently the leader of one of the BDO Alliance Managing Partner groups. In addition, he has directed several seminars on tax issues in the Washington DC area. On a national level, he has represented the District of Columbia at AICPA Council meetings of state societies to address issues confronting the profession.

Michael earned a Bachelor of Arts in accounting from The Catholic University of America. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He has been a member of the Arizona Society of Certified Public Accountants since 2002 and a member of the Greater Washington Society of Certified Public Accountants since 1984.

As a way to give back to the community, Michael often umpires local baseball games at varying levels. He has been involved in youth sports, especially baseball, for more than 30 years and serving as chief umpire for more than a decade in Falls Church Kiwanis Little League. He currently serves as an umpire consultant on the Virginia District 4 Little League staff.

Michael represents the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs professional baseball team on the Board of Directors for the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball.

Peter T. Ryan co-founded Ryan & Wetmore in 1988 with business partner Michael J. Wetmore. Through his dedication and vision the firm has grown from a two person firm to a, three office, 45 person firm serving the Mid-Atlantic region. Peter currently works with clients to address tax, audit and accounting issues. He also has significant experience in international tax matters.

Peter provides clients with the best strategies for success. His expertise extends to the following industries:

  • Healthcare organizations
  • Construction and Real Estate
  • Government contractors
  • Technology groups
  • Manufacturing
  • High Net Worth Individuals

His community service spans a variety of organizations. Pete has served on the Board of Directors for a number of successful for-profit and nonprofit organizations. In 2018 he was honored as the Real Estate & Construction CPAs Member of the Year for his excellence and commitment to the industry. Not only is Pete a leader in the Real Estate and Construction CPAs, he is also on the Leadership Board for the Alliance of Mergers & Acquisition Advisors (AM&AA). Additional organizations he is actively involved in include the Healthcare Advisors Association, the CPA Manufacturing Services Association, the Virginia Transportation Construction Alliance, and the Construction Financial Management Association.

Peter obtained a Master of Business Administration in Finance from the University of Baltimore and a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting from the Catholic University of America. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants, Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants, and the Greater Washington Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Additionally, Pete is a member of the AICPA Tax Section and the AICPA Personal Financial Planning Section and holds his Series 65 certification. He also holds the Intermediate Employee Benefit Plans Audit Certificate badge from the AICPA.
