Willie Goode, President and CEO, The Goode Companies

Willie K. Goode is the President and CEO of the Goode Companies, Inc., one of the largest privately held waste management and transportation companies in the Mid-Atlantic region. Goode Companies is celebrating its 30th year in business this year, a milestone reached and a dream realized. Mr. Goode is a native Washingtonian, and proud graduate of Ballou High School in Southeast, Washington, DC. His strong work ethic was shaped as a teen working with his Father and Uncles in their small trash business, collecting trash six days a week as a helper on the back of a trash truck. This experience was the start of Mr. Goode’s love for trucks and his first glimpse of the potential for success in the trash industry.  Upon graduation, Mr. Goode earned his Commercial Drivers License (CDL) and started driving for two independent trucking companies.

In 1991, Mr. Goode’s employer sold his company to Waste Management, Inc., consequently Willie faced a fork in the road; work for Waste Management or lease a truck and start your own business. With one truck, a belief in self, a spirit of entrepreneurship, and a vision of three trucks someday, Goode Trash, Inc. (now Goode Companies, Inc.) was established. With Mr. Goode at the helm, the Goode Companies has grown to six locations across Maryland, a headquarters in Greenbelt, a full service customer care center in Waldorf, and four operational facilities in Hughesville, Laurel, Temple Hills, and Baltimore.  In 2019 Goode Companies, Inc. (GCI) opened its first out of state location in West Palm Beach, Florida. The company has over 200 trucks serving 120,000 residents and 11,000 commercial customer stops supported by 350 employees.
