Police say a Maryland man stole an ambulance then hit multiple police vehicles with it before finally coming to a stop last Thursday.

The Carroll County Sheriff's Office says 55-year-old Steven Gary allegedly stole the Baltimore County Fire Department ambulance in the area of the emergency department at Carroll Hospital.

Sheriff's deputies, with the help of Maryland State Troopers, were able to locate the missing vehicle on Route 32 between Eldersburg and Westminster, but it did not stop. The vehicle reportedly struck a Maryland State Police vehicle as it continued on Route 32.

Police say Gary struck a Carroll County Sheriff's Office vehicle which was pushed into a parked car. The ambulance came to a stop near Gamber & Community Fire Company at around 12:30pm and the suspect was taken into custody. No injuries were reported.

The driver was transported to the Carroll Hospital Center to be evaluated. He now faces a long list of charges including driving under the influence of alcohol.
