The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the DMV as freezing rain is currently in the forecast for Sunday.

Some areas of western Maryland could see as much as a quarter-inch of ice, while a span from the Shenandoah Valley to Baltimore could see as much as a tenth of an inch.

Even small amounts of ice accumulation are enough to cause hazardous conditions.

The Winter Weather Advisory goes into effect at 3:00 AM on Sunday and is set to expire at Noon on Sunday.

The cold weather in the region recently will make it susceptible to creating icy roads on Sunday. The NWS is warning travelers on Interstates 70, 81, and 68 to exercise caution during the event. They are also warning that power outages could happen.
