On Sunday, a scary moment unfolded at FedExField following the WFT/Eagles game. As Eagles QB Jalen Hurts was leaving the field through the tunnel, a group of fans were reaching down to high-five the star. Then, a railing gave out and 7-8 fans came crashing to the ground.
In a statement released by the Washington Football Team, after the incident they said, "To our knowledge, everyone involved was offered onsite medical evaluation and left the stadium of their own accord. We're very glad no one appears to have been seriously injured. The safety of our fans and guests is of the utmost importance and we are looking into what occurred."
The team added that this area of the stadium didn't contain any seats since it was designated as an area to accompany individuals using wheelchairs. Therefore, the railing wasn't meant to be a load-bearing one.
Well, it seems the team has repaired the railing. Using zip-ties.
Who knows if they are meant to be just a temporary fix or a permanent one. Since the WFT has been long eliminated from playoff contention, there won't be any NFL games featuring the (alleged) Washington Admirals played in the stadium until next season.
