The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for Washington, DC and parts of Virginia and Maryland as a weather system is expected to bring periods of heavy snow Sunday night into Monday.
Parts of Virginia west of the District into the mountains have been issued a Winter Weather Advisory.
Most, if not all parts of northern Virginia and Maryland are being forecast to receive varying amounts of snow accumulation. While the areas of Maryland west of Frederick may only see a coating of snow, parts of southern Maryland and northern Virginia could see as much as 8" of snow.
The NWS is saying that the weather system could pose a significant impact on the Monday morning commute.
