A video from Howard High School in Columbia is going viral on social media that appears to show a security officer at the school punching a student in the head while he is being restrained on the ground.
According to WJZ, Howard County Police say that the security officer and a school administrator attempted to restrain the student after he allegedly assaulted several other students in the cafeteria.
But some think the use of force on the student was excessive. Howard County Police say they are investigating the incident and added that the security officer in the video is not a police officer but used to be one.
A parent from the school shared that the student eventually evaded the officer and administrator, causing the school to go on lockdown on Thursday.
