Fairfax County Fire & Rescue say two people in the area of Herndon, Virginia were injured by a lightning strike Tuesday.
The individuals were injured when the lightning hit a building in the 13000 block of Woodland Park Road. The injuries are reportedly not considered life-threatening.
Around the same time, multiple reports were made of a "loud boom" that seemed different than the normal sound of thunder. Although meteorologists confirmed the noise was in fact thunder, it's unknown if the incident and "loud boom" were connected.
Some traffic lights in the area were also reportedly out at around the same time.
