WASHINGTON, DC -- The nation is in the self response phase of the census right now but starting August 11th, the census will start sending people into neighborhoods to knock on doors.
As of July 19, 2020,Washington, D.C. has a current self-response rate of 58.5%, compared to 62.1%nationally.
More than $675 billion in federal funds, and trillions of dollars over the next decade, will be attached to population counts. Communities that are undercounted risk missing out on federal funding for an array of critical programs and services, including housing, transportation, health care, education, and emergency response.
