Tourists Rally to Raise Funds For Safari Guides

HOEDSPRUIT, SOUTH AFRICA -- Tourism has been one of the hardest hit industries under the coronavirus pandemic, but travelers are rallying to raise funds for safari guides in South Africa.

Americans are starting to make travel plans again, but with obvious concerns over the coronavirus, travelers are keeping their trips short and in driving distance, which is taking it’s toll on the international travel industry, but it’s having an even bigger ripple effect.

Ebenezer Rhode, a field guide at the Kapama Game Reserve in South Africa’s Kruger National Park, talks with 104.7 WONK FM's Jen Richer about the outpouring of support from tourists on GoFundMe while they wait to return to the reserve.
