WASHINGTON, DC -- The nation is facing some of the worst unemployment numbers since the Great Depression, with last month's jobs report showing over 14 percent of Americans are unemployed, and many of those affected include military families.
According to the Labor Department's April jobs report, the unemployment rate jumped to 14.7 percent, as the pandemic forced businesses across the U.S. to lay off employees. The decline in payrolls for the month was by far the worst on record, according to government monthly payrolls going all the way back to 1939.
