SAN DIEGO, CA -- A San Diego nurse is this year's recipient of the Military Spouse of the Year award.
Juvilyn Garcia is raising four boys under six years of age and has been a huge advocate for other military families at MCRD San Diego.Garcia's husband is in the process completing his billet as a drill instructor aboard MCRD San Diego.
The mother was nominated by four people for the honor.They say she spends every free moment she has volunteering to make MCRD San Diego battalion the best it can be.
The Military Spouse of the Year award recognizes military spouses' important contributions and commitment to community and country.
According to Military Spouse Magazine, they,“created the Military Spouse of the Year®, or MSOY, award in 2008 to honor military spouses from all branches of service. The MSOY award recognizes the service of the more than 1 million military spouses who support and maintain the homefront and promotes their contributions to a wider community.”
The call for nominations starts in the fall of every year, then candidates must go through three rounds of voting to decide on the following year’s Military Spouse of the Year.
