Lawmakers are not satisfied with Facebook's plan to remove "deepfakes" and other manipulated videos from its social media platform.
"Deepfake" videos are false but realistic clips created with artificial intelligence and other high-tech tools.
House Energy Subcommittee Chairwoman Jan Schakowsky says big tech is failing to regulate itself, adding the policy leaves a lot of information out. Ranking Republican member Cathy McMorris Rodgers says the lawmakers should focus more on innovation to combat falsified videos, instead of using more regulation.
Last week, Facebook said it would remove deepfakes but not content that is deemed to be parody or satire.
