Speaker company Sonos is suing google.
The company, known for its high end speakers, accuses the tech giant of copying its technology and undercutting its business. Sonos filed a lawsuit in federal court which argues google’s multi-room speaker tech violates Sonos patents.
There’s now a second federal court case, as well, where Sonos claims google is infringing upon five of its patents and wants the court to make google stop selling speakers, laptops and smartphones.
The two companies partnered in 2013. Sonos also says Amazon ripped off some of their technology, but no lawsuit has been filed with them yet.
Meantime, the house judiciary committee is investigating big tech companies and has asked the speaker company to come to a hearing to air its grievances. That hearing is scheduled for January 17th.
