WASHINGTON, DC — DC Attorney General Karl Racine is suing DoorDash.
The AG's office calls DoorDash's business model deceptive because customers didn't have a clear understanding of where their money was going.
Now, Racine is looking to recover millions of dollars in tips.
He alleges the company pocketed tips meant for workers, and says his office launched an investigation in March that found DoorDash had used tips to offset the company's payments to workers.
DoorDash has responded to the suit, saying "transparency is of paramount importance, which is why we publicly disclosed how our previous pay model worked."
DoorDash also says they've worked with an independent third party to ensure all tips are paid to workers, and they believe the accusations have no factual basis.
