ST. PETERSBURG, FL--St. Petersburg College in Florida is being recognized by the National Security Agency and the Department of Homeland Security as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education (CAE-CDE).
The goal of the CAE-CD is to reduce vulnerability in the national information infrastructure by promoting higher education and research in cybersecurity defense and producing professionals with cybersecurity defense expertise throughout the nation.
Dr. James Stewart, the Dean of the college, says the recognition is an honor and will help the school in continuing to grow its program.
Thanks to the honor, they'll be able to add a new class focused on threat analysis.Dr. Stewart says the designation will be listed on the diplomas of students who graduate.
“This designation reflects SPC’s mission to provide academic excellence for our students. We’re proud to support the local growing workforce with skilled professionals to protect the cybersecurity infrastructure,” SPC President Tonjua Williams said.
