Expert Emphasizes Smartphone Safety During Cyber Security Month

Apple Fans Await iPhone 7

WASHINGTON, DC -- An expert on cyber security is recommending smartphone safety during Cyber Security Month.

Ori Eisen, the founder cyber security firm Trusona, says criminals can now take over your smartphone without physically stealing it, "If they call your phone company, and pretend to be you, they can import your number or your SIM to their phone and then all the security mechanisms are basically bypassed.

Eisen says putting some kind of security on your smartphone is more important than ever, "be it the biometric face id, touch id, or the squiggly line if you're an android user, because if you leave your phone somewhere and someone grabs it, you don't want them to access to it to get these codes or any information."

The tech expert says you should consider reducing the number of apps you keep on your smartphone. He says,"In some apps there's malware and other things that create what's called a bot army, and you don't want to be, unbeknownst to you, participating in some activity that is just nefarious."

Eisen's company has more suggestions at Trusona.com.
