Prepare to Add Lemonade-Stand Owner to Your Resume

You may soon be able to live out your dream of opening a lemonade stand in Wisconsin.

Lemonade stands may soon be decriminalized in Wisconsin, if you’re still under the age of 18.The state Senate approved a plan that allows kids to sell glasses of lemonade from their yards.

You wouldn’t be able to sell more than $2,000 dollars a year, and you couldn’t sell any food that has to be refrigerated or cooked, as per the concerns of public health officials, but it’s still a big shake up from the previous all-out ban.

The measure has bipartisan support and the Senate approved the bill on a voice vote with no debate. The bill now goes to the state Assembly.

Texas and Colorado also recently passed bills to legalize lemonade stands over the summer. Currently only 12 other states allow unpermitted lemonade stands: California, Nevada, Utah, North Dakota, Nebraska, Missouri, Louisiana, Illinois, New York, Vermont, Rhode Island, and Connecticut.

Lemonade brand Country Time has even set up a legal fund, Country Time Legal-ade to help children pay for permit fees and fines for their lemonade stands. According to a statement, it now wants to provide parents and their kids with the tools to change the laws in their states through its website.
