Floridians are going to great lengths to make sure a veteran won't be forgotten.
Army veteran Edward Pearson died last month in Southwest Florida, and since he has no family, a simple ceremony was planned at Sarasota National Cemetery.
Those plans changed, though, since word of his death spread online, and now many who didn't even know the 80-year-old are planning to attend his burial service.
Florida Senator Rick Scott tweeted, “our state has always come together to support our men and women in uniform, and he hopes anyone in the area who can attend will do so.”
Cemetery workers expect a phenomenal turnout, and the funeral director says this shows how awesome the power of social media can be.
