Google Announces Renewable Energy Plan Ahead Of Climate Strikes

Google is making a major commitment to renewable energy.

The company announced Thursday that it plans to make "the biggest corporate purchase of renewable energy in history."

Google says it will buy a 1,600 megawatt package of wind and solar energy agreements and sign 18 new energy deals, increasing its agreements by 40 percent.

Google has also pledged to use recycled materials in all of its Made By Google products by 2022.

Employees at Google are participating in the Global Climate Strike, and will demand their company take stronger action to combat climate change.

Employees from Microsoft and Amazon are also participating in the strikes, led by students around the world.
