With all the traveling involved around Independence Day, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence is cautioning the public to be extra careful when using the internet.
In a tweet, ODNI’s National Counterintelligence and Security Center urged Americans to “[t]ake cyber precautions” when they travel around the busy holiday.
“Avoid using public Wi-Fi networks, whether at the airport or hotel,” NCSC tweeted. “Also avoid public charging stations and data ports. Going abroad? Expect no privacy on your mobile devices.”
Other tips from the center that don’t apply just to traveling but make common sense include:
·Create strong passwords
·Lock down your social media accounts
·Trash suspicious emails
·Know whom you’re talking to
