Relicensing Fee Reimbursement Program for Marine Corps Spouses

Marines with spouses who pay for professional relicensing because of a move will now be reimbursed up to $500.

Authorized by the 2018 National Defense Authorization Act, the service’s new relicensing fee reimbursement program for spouses applies to occupational relicensing and recertification expenses incurred by spouses because of a permanent change of station to a new state.

Qualifying costs for this program must be:

- Imposed by the Marine’s new duty station state for a spouse to get a license or certification to continue working in the same profession from the state of the previous duty station.

- Incurred or paid by the member or spouse to get the license or certification from the state of the new duty station after the date PCS orders are issued.

Spouses play a key part in the corps’ overall readiness and resiliency, Lt. Gen. Michael A. Rocco, deputy commandant for Manpower and Reserve Affairs, said in a May 24 release

"Providing this assistance to spouses who face the challenge of interrupting their professional careers and updating their credentials with a move to a new duty station is another example of family readiness,” he said.
