In recognition of Public Service Recognition Week, President Donald Trump on May 3 issued a proclamation lauding government workers for their dedication, service and stewardship.
“From the law enforcement officers and border patrol agents who keep our country safe and secure to those who work in education, healthcare, transportation, and other public service careers, civil servants ensure government works for the American people,” Trump said. The men and women in the armed forces “are able to defend our freedom” because employees at Pentagon and the Department of Veterans Affairs work devotedly every day, he added.
Trump also highlighted some his administration’s achievement in making the government more efficient.
“By removing unnecessary regulations and streamlining internal agency processes, we have helped eliminate barriers that stand in the way of Federal employees’ efforts to do their jobs,” the president said. “We have also made it easier for the Federal Government to hire more military spouses, and we are giving a second chance to those with a criminal history.
The annual Public Service Recognition Week runs from May 5-11 this year.
