Federal Cyber Reskilling Academy’s Second Class to take Place

Those who didn’t make it into the Federal Cyber Reskilling Academy’s inaugural class now have a second chance at developing their cyber skills.

Following a growing interest in the initiative, the Office of Management and Budget and CIO Council announced today they’re accepting applications for a second cohort – this time, it’s open to all federal employees.

The inaugural class targeted feds from non-technical backgrounds to help them build foundational skills in cyber defense analysis. Over 1,500 applied to be part of that cohort, with 30 chosen last week.

“With over 1,500 applications to the first cohort, there clearly is an interest for cyber security within the federal government,” U.S. Chief Information Officer Suzette Kent said in a statement. “We fight the Cyber battle every day and the Federal Cybersecurity Reskilling Academy is an investment in our Federal workforce and our country.”

Created in November 2018, the academy aims to provide hands-on cybersecurity and technology training to federal employees currently not in IT roles. The three-month program is free to participants.

Application deadline is May 15.
