Baltimore-Washington Parkway Changes Speed Limit to 40 MPH

Drivers need to pay attention to their speed when driving on the Baltimore-Washington Parkway.

Due to the amount of potholes on the highway, the National Park Service has reduced the speed limit from 55 mph to 40 mph from Route 197 to Route 32. The N.P.S. has stated that they hope drivers will take the new limit seriously and take into account the construction crews currently working on repaving the Parkway.

“We know this is a frustrating situation for drivers who rely on the Baltimore-Washington Parkway. Since the end of January, National Park Service crews have placed over 60 tons of specialized asphalt to patch potholes on the parkway, and crews continue to patch potholes daily as weather conditions allow.” - Superintendent Matt Carroll
