In true Samantha Bee fashion, the political satire host put together a segment called The Masked Federal Worker. Bee sent her staff to DC to discuss the importance of these "essential" workers.
Who's behind the mask? Actual furloughed federal workers, with genuine fears about how long this will continue and how it will affect or society. One masked worker hinted at the fact that without his agency, would be no clean water. Another masked worker said that her fear for the government shutdown continuing is the precautions for hurricane season are not being taken.
“This is the time that we have to prepare for fire season. Fire season’s right around the corner, we’re running out of time at this point and I can’t stress how scary that is,” addressed another masked worker.
We've now reached Day 33 of the government shutdown and it looks like federal workers may not be getting a paycheck tomorrow.
